Loaded French Fry Nachos

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen French fries (crinkle-cut, shoestring, or curly fries work well)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheddar and Monterey Jack)
  • 1/2 cup cooked ground beef or chicken (optional)
  • 1/4 cup bacon bits (optional)
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1 jalapeño, sliced (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup guacamole
  • Fresh cilantro or green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Fries:
    • Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the French fries package.
    • Spread the fries in an even layer on a baking sheet and cook according to package directions until crispy. Season with salt and pepper if desired.
  2. Prepare the Toppings:
    • While the fries are cooking, prepare your toppings: chop tomatoes, red onion, and any other desired toppings. Cook the ground beef or chicken if using.
  3. Assemble the Fry Nachos:
    • Once the fries are cooked and crispy, transfer them to an oven-safe dish or a lined baking sheet.
    • Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the fries, followed by the ground beef or chicken, bacon bits, tomatoes, red onion, black olives, and jalapeño slices (if using).
  4. Bake to Melt the Cheese:
    • Return the assembled fry nachos to the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and drizzle with sour cream and dollops of guacamole. Garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions.
